2025 Washington Terrace Construction Projects
Street maintenance and infrastructure development is a little like being conscious during surgery; although the process may be uncomfortable, the end result brings relief and improvement in quality of life.
City staff meticulously prioritize annual street maintenance initiatives and infrastructure enhancements to ensure the ongoing preservation of the city's assets.
Several projects are currently in the planning phase for summer 2025. This year’s initiatives include:
- Sealing and resurfacing of street cracks
- Replacement of the water main on 5350 S. between 300 E. and 200 W.
- Redesigning and implementing xeriscaping for the detention basins at 300 W. 5000 S.
- Enhancements to the sidewalks at the north entrance of Rohmer Park, located at 5100 S. 600 W.
- Removal of trip hazards from sidewalks in prioritized areas
- Maintenance and upgrades of culinary water valves
Before the commencement of each project, a detailed map indicating the location and project timeline will be made available on the city website, along with updates on the project's status throughout the construction phase.
Culinary Water and Stormwater Infrastructure Project on 5350 S

Washington Terrace City is initiating the installation of a new culinary water main and storm drainage system along 5350 South, between 300 East and 200 West.
The project will encompass the following key elements:
- Installation of a new water main
- Reconnection of service laterals to the new line
- Addition of new fire hydrants in the vicinity
- Implementation of a storm water system extending from 150 West to 125 East
What should residents anticipate?
- Road closures affecting traffic
- The area will remain accessible to local traffic only
- Scheduled water shut-offs to facilitate proper connections
- Residents will receive door hanger notifications 24 to 48 hours prior to any water shut-off. Information will also be posted on face book and the city website
- Access to individual driveways will be maintained; residents will be informed if access is temporarily restricted
Construction is slated to commence on July 1st, with an estimated duration of 6 to 8 weeks for project completion.
How can you assist?
- Position garbage and recycling containers on the north side of the road during construction
- Avoid parking on the road within the construction zone
- Remove items from the street, including trailers, basketball standards, dirt piles, etc.
- Stay alert to the construction crews as they work efficiently and safely
