Construction Stormwater Oversight in Washington Terrace City

As part of its commitment to protecting water quality and complying with state and federal regulations, the City of Washington Terrace is responsible for overseeing stormwater management at construction sites within city boundaries. This responsibility is mandated by the Utah Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (UPDES), which regulates stormwater discharges from construction activities that disturb one acre or more—or smaller sites that are part of a larger common plan of development.

Under the UPDES program and the City's Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) permit, Washington Terrace must ensure that construction site operators implement effective Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs) and follow best management practices to prevent sediment, debris, and other pollutants from entering local waterways.
