Application to Discharge Pool Water to the City Stormwater System
Swimming pools are fun! If drained improperly however, the chlorine, algaecides, and other pool management chemicals can damage local water quality and be fatal for aquatic life. Please ensure that if your pool is drained it is managed and drained according to the best practices published by the Utah Division of Water Quality here.
- The preferred method for pool water discharge in Washington Terrace is to use the sanitary sewer system (the sewage and wastewater system). Notice should be given to the Central Weber Sewer District before discharge. They can be contacted at (801) 731-3011 or info@centralweberut.gov
- If discharge to the sanitary sewer is not possible, then dechlorinated water may be discharged slowly to vegetated landscape on the owner’s property while avoiding runoff or damage to landscaping.
If neither of the above options are viable for your site, pool water may be discharged into the stormwater system (roadside gutters and grates) but only after meeting the following conditions:
- Approval must be received from Washington Terrace Stormwater Staff. Fill out the form here and if all required conditions are met you can get approval almost immediately.
- Before any pool water can be discharged to the stormwater system, the water must be fully dechlorinated and steps taken to ensure that all other pool additives have been effectively neutralized.
