System Overview
Washington Terrace City offers a comprehensive sanitary sewer collection system designed for residential, commercial, and governmental facilities. The city is responsible for the maintenance of 33 miles of underground piping infrastructure. This system is interconnected with a network of pipes and large trunk lines that transport wastewater to the Central Weber Sewer District for treatment.
The Public Works Department conducts annual cleaning and video inspections of various system segments to ensure optimal functionality.
It is important to note that property owners are accountable for the service lateral that connects their homes to the main sewer line in the street, including the junction point.
Capital Facility Investment Plan (CIP)
Washington Terrace has implemented a Capital Facility Investment Plan (CIP) that assesses the Sanitary Sewer System and pinpoints areas in need of replacement or repair. This strategic initiative allows the city to operate both efficiently and cost-effectively while planning for essential upgrades and maintenance. Managing and operating a sanitary sewer system can be complex; however, with skilled personnel overseeing the system and ensuring that all components function correctly, it can operate smoothly and effectively.
