Washington Terrace City provides culinary water to approximately 3,250 residential and commercial connections, serving a population of over 9,500 residents. The water system comprises 32 miles of underground piping, along with pressure regulating stations and hundreds of water valves that facilitate system control. Annually, the city acquires 1,000 acre-feet of treated and disinfected water from the Weber Basin Conservancy District, which is equivalent to about 32,585,385 gallons. The water supply undergoes regular sampling and testing to meet all federal and state regulations and maintains the highest quality standards.
To ensure adequate water storage for fire protection and supply demands, Washington Terrace has recently installed two one-million-gallon storage tanks. The City is committed to maintaining and enhancing the culinary water system. One significant way that this happens is through the development of a Capital Facility Investment Plan (CIP) that evaluates the water system and identifies areas requiring replacement or repair. This strategic plan enables the city to operate efficiently and cost-effectively while planning for necessary upgrades and maintenance.
